Overview
Support UNICEF’s Information Management services for effective data systems and humanitarian response.
You have:
A minimum of a secondary degree in data science, or engineering, including information technology, statistics, development studies, or relevant subjects.
A minimum of five (5) years of relevant professional experience in the design, development, and management of information management systems, tools, and workflows supporting programme planning, monitoring, and reporting is required.
Strong experience in data management and analysis, including mobile data collection (e.g., ODK or similar tools), data processing, validation, storage, analysis, and visualization to support evidence-based decision-making.
Proven ability to produce analytical and visual information products, including tables, charts, dashboards, and summaries, using tools such as Power BI or similar platforms.
Demonstrated experience in GIS and spatial analysis, including map production using tools such as ArcGIS, QGIS, or MapInfo, to support programme planning and monitoring.
Experience contributing to or maintaining web-based information platforms, such as humanitarian or coordination portals.
Familiarity with mobile technologies and basic programming or scripting, such as Python, to support data processing or automation.
Working knowledge of statistical and analytical software, such as R, STATA or SPSS, for data analysis.
Experience in information and data management within the UN system, NGOs or INGOs, particularly in humanitarian or emergency contexts.
Experience in sectoral coordination and strong contextual understanding of the Rohingya Refugee Response in Cox’s Bazar, Bangladesh.
Fluency in English is required. Knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, or Spanish) or a local language is an asset.
Contract

How can you make a difference****?
The Management Information System Assistant will be part of UNICEF’s Information Management (IM) Hub in Cox’s Bazar, providing integrated Information Management services to all UNICEF Programme Sections and UNICEF-led sectors supporting emergency and humanitarian response for refugees and host communities.
The role supports the design, operation, and continuous improvement of data systems, reporting frameworks, data collection, analytical products, and knowledge platforms that enable UNICEF and its partners to plan, coordinate, monitor, and report on programmes, including emergency response and recovery efforts, in a timely, accurate, and accountable manner.
The role will ensure that data collection, data analysis, evidence-based decision-making, operational coordination, performance monitoring and donor accountability are underpinned by high-quality, well-managed and well-used data.
Major duties and responsibilities:
Under the supervision of the Information Management Officer (NO2) and with support from the Planning, Monitoring and Reporting (PMR) team, the Management Information System Assistant will support the design, implementation and maintenance of integrated data and information management systems serving all UNICEF programmes and UNICEF-led sectors. The IMA will contribute to ensuring high-quality, timely and well-organized data to support evidence-based decision-making, effective coordination, performance monitoring and accountability, with particular focus on emergency response and humanitarian programming.
Key Tasks and Outputs include, but are not limited to:
Information system design, development and roll-out.
Data collection, processing, quality assurance and organization.
Data analysis, indicators tracking, dashboards development and reporting support.
Information Management (IM) capacity building and technical support
Coordination of information management tasks with programmes and sectors partners.
