Overview
Support and strengthen UNICEF Led/Co-led Sector coordination in Cox’s Bazar.
You have:
A university (bachelor’s) degree in relevant sector being applied for: Public health/Nutrition, Education, Social sciences, Data science, Geographic sciences/engineering, Statistics, Rural/Urban planning, Anthropology, Environmental sciences, civil engineering, international development or disaster management
A minimum of two years of experience in humanitarian response coordination is required. Preferably in the Rohingya response.
Fluency in English (verbal and written).
Good written and spoken skills in the language of the humanitarian operation (Bangla).
Knowledge of Rohingya, Chittagonian Dialect or Myanmar (Burmese) is an added advantage.
Relevant experience in a thematic area (WASH or Nutrition or Education or Child Protection) and ideally in humanitarian programme coordination is considered an asset.
Prior experience of managing sector information management systems is desirable and will be considered an asset.
Knowledge and experience of consortium management is an advantage.

Purpose of the job:
Under the supervision and direction of the Sector Coordinator, support and strengthen UNICEF Led/Co-led Sector
coordination in Cox’s Bazar, ensuring alignment with national strategies, humanitarian principles, and sectoral plans and
standards, while promoting collaboration among partners and stakeholders. The successful candidates will also be responsible for a range of tasks which would require close and quality collaboration with numerous partners, including sector partners, stakeholders
including religious and youth organisations, and Government and other authorities at different levels in Sections and Sector.
The Programme Officers (Sector Coordination) will play a critical role in facilitating coordination among partners, ensuring
adherence to standards, and supporting strategic planning and advocacy. The posts will be based in Cox’s Bazar, in
Government departments: Directorate of Primary Education (DOPE), Department of the Public Health Engineering (DPHE),
Office of Civil Surgeon and Department District Social Service Office as applicable for each sector but with field visits to the
Rohingya refugee camps and Bangladeshi Host Communities and the Refugee Coordination Platform (formerly known as the
Inter Sector Coordination Group – ISCG).
Overall, the Programme Officers (Sector Coordination) will provide technical support to the coordination and leadership of their respective sub sectors in Cox’s Bazar:

Summary of the key functions/accountabilities:
Technical support to the coordination and leadership of the UNICEF led/co-led sector/s (Education, Nutrition, WASH
and Child Protection Area of Responsibility).
Needs assessment, situation monitoring and analysis.
Service coverage analysis in understanding collective coverage and service gaps.
Strategic planning and prioritization.
Resource mobilization and advocacy.
Support overall mapping and performance monitoring of the UNICEF led/co-led sector /subsectors.
Promote compliance, capacity building and Accountability to Affected Population.

Education:

Work Experience:
A minimum of two years of experience in humanitarian response coordination is required. Preferably in the Rohingya response.
Familiarity with coordination mechanisms in the Rohingya response.
Knowledge of respective sector being applied for as a whole and its priority issues; an ability to strategize how these sectoral needs are met through collective delivery and ensuring that the roles, responsibilities, and functional linkages among sector support teams are clear and well-coordinated.
Language Requirements:
Fluency in English (verbal and written).
Good written and spoken skills in the language of the humanitarian operation (Bangla).
Knowledge of Rohingya, Chittagonian Dialect or Myanmar (Burmese) is an added advantage.
